How does Rose’s role as a wife and mother reflect societal expectations of women, particularly African American women, in the 1950s, and how does her sense of duty impact her relationship with Troy?


Writing prompt: Rose’s role as a wife and as a mother reflects the expectation of women back in 1950s by their sacrifices and strengthened the family. Her sense of duty impacts her relationship with Troy because in her mind, she stays committed to Troy dispite his mistakes. Everyday she tries to keep her household at peace. Rose sacrifices the most but she is able to stable Troy whenever a fight breaks out and just be an emotional support. 


Summary: Today in class, we determined the connotation of the word ninja. Then we read Act 1 Scene 2. 


Reflection:Today I learned more about how to identify connotation.

 Writing Prompt: A time when I felt completely lost was when my grandmother passed away. In my culture, we value our grandmothers. She passed away during COVID due to heart failure. The reason I felt completely lost was that my mother was never home due to her work, as she was both the woman and the man of the house. Although my siblings were there, my grandma was my mother too.
