Writing prompt: Growing up I would eat whatever was on the table. However, when it came to tacos, specifically Tacos de Carne Asada, I never tried until I was 11. Tacos are seen as just greasy meet with greasy tortillas that just end up falling apart. Specifically, that is how they are supposed to be eaten.  Until then, I only ate chicken tacos, that had to be made a certain way, specifically not greasy. Even though I am Mexican and live in a Mexican household, I couldn't help to just not eat it. I was made fun of because how Is it possible that this is what my culture eats on the daily basis however I don't. So when I was 11, we were leaving church from a vigil and we were hungry. The only places that were open were food trucks. So, we went on to the nearest one to us. I was going to order my same old chicken tacos however they didn't have any. The only thing they had left were Carne Asada. I was either going to starve or eat. So, I was willingly going to try it because I ...

How does the New Orleans episode of Street Food: USA show that food represents more than just something people eat? Explain how at least one food from the episode reflects culture, identity, or community.

Writing prompt: One thing everyone from different cultures and/or backgrounds have in common is the love for food. In the Episode of New Orleans street food, the whole community is surrounded with food. It's dishes that come from many generations before them, which is what makes everything special. Each dish has a significance from history that goes way back. The Yakumen is a very important dish in New Orleans. As mentioned in the video, it is a perfect dish for a hungover. It brings everyone together, enjoying Yakumen with one another.  Summary: Today in class we looked at New Orleans street food and how it has an impact on the community.  Reflection: Today I learned the importance and significance of New Orleans street food.

Today, we continued our discussion about culture and food. What is one dish from your culture that is a must-have as a representation of your culture? Identify the dish and explain what it is and why it is significant.

Writing Prompt: A dish from my culture that is a must-have is mole. Mole is the seasoning however it is mostly cooked with chicken and served with a side of rice. There are two types of Mole, there is red and there is green, typically made with crushed peanuts. Mole brings the richness of flavors in a Mexican culture. It brings unity because Mole is mostly served in big Hispanic effects like weddings, birthday parties, and etc.  Summary: Today in class we were working on our food PowerPoint.  Reflection: Today in class I learned how everyday food I eat has a power significance to my life and my culture.

Food is often tied to memory and emotion. Describe a meaningful memory connected to a meal or dish. Analyze how that experience shaped your understanding of family, culture, or belonging.

Writing prompt: A meaning full memory that is connected to a meal is my grandma would always make fresh handmade tomato pasta with cheese on top. The smell of her home wasn't only the fresh tomato, but just a sweet and savory smell. It is very rare when that smell is activated because until this day, no one makes it how my grandma used to make it. However I recently encountered that smell at my friend's grandma's house. Although it tasted differently, the smell is what activated the times I could go to my grandma's house after church on a Sunday afternoon. This experience helped me realize how we adapt and how most every culture is the same just in a different version.  Summary: Today in class we learned how food is connected to multicultural.  Reflection: Today in class I learned about how it can show how culturally we are connected through food.

Reflect on your writing process for essays. Which part of writing an essay do you struggle with the most (for example: developing a thesis, organizing ideas, finding strong evidence, writing introductions, or explaining your analysis)? Which parts of essay writing do you feel most confident about? Explain why you feel strong in those areas and what specifically makes the challenging part difficult for you. Include at least one goal for how you plan to improve your essay writing skills.

Writing prompt: The part of the writing process where I struggle the most is the brainstorming. I tend to overthink how i need to make my cluster. Then writing the sub topics is a very difficult thing for me to do. Another thing that I am still getting the hang of is gathering evidence and connecting it back to my claim. Trying to explain the reasons why also causes me to struggle. The area that I feel more confident is writing and introduction and developing a thesis. When writing a thesis, it is mostly just a statement, something that can be argued and stated by facts. For an introduction paragraph, I like to come up with a hook that can grab the person's attention and give them a reason why this is important. A goal I have on how I plan to approve, is to tough up on my skills in writing essays, and find a random prompt to write about at least once a month.  Summary: Today in class, we were finishing off prepping for our essay, making sure we have everything we need. ...

Prompt: How did the writing process (brainstorming, drafting, revising, proofreading, and finalizing) shape the strength of the final essay, and what was learned about your personal strengths and areas for growth as a writer?

Writing Prompt: The writing process has really helped me to understand the steps that need to be taken to write an essay. I never knew them until now, perhaps vaguely, however I understood it more now. My personally strengths in writing an essay, in my opinion, is putting the words together, like transition words. To be able to make my reasoning or explanations transition smoothly into my writing. I am glad I am able to do this because I know when I used to write, my writing would sound very chopped and robot-like. However now, it has gotten strong, and now I just need to focus on other areas of improvement. Summary: Today we wrote our Argumentative essay.  Reflection: Today in class I learned how to gather everything I learned and needed to write an essay, and wrote it.

Why is drafting an essential step in the writing process rather than going straight to a final version? Use your own experience from this essay to explain how drafting improved (or revealed weaknesses in) your thinking.

Writing prompt: Writing a draft, in my opinion, is writing down the first thing that is on your mind. Regardless of it being good or bad, it is a start that can be the head start to writing your full essay. Also, getting the feedback of how you can make your essay stronger. When I personally draft any essay, even though I know it is a draft, I put so much thought into it so that it is perfect. It is a good mindset however, the draft is not supposed to be perfect. I like to write drafts because it gives me a gist of how I want my writing to be. However, it takes so long for me to write one because of the amount of effort I put into it.  Summary: Today in class we wrote a first draft for our Wild Argumentative essay.  Reflection: Today in class I learned why writing a first draft is important.

After completing the assignments on making college affordable and finding the best college fit, what is one thing you learned that you did not know before? Why do you think this information is important for seniors to understand?

Writing prompt: One thing I learned that I didn't know was how much pressure students get when trying to choose a college based on people around them. It really is something everyone goes through that we aren't prepared for and we really go through things alone. I can infer many don't decide to go to college based on that fact. Another thing is looking at certain things in a college. Things you might like or things you know will not be good for you. I think it is very important for seniors to know these types of things.  Summary: Today in class we did 2 common lit assignments.  Reflection: Today I learned how to choose a college that is best for me.

As we move toward the end of the semester, what are your top three college choices right now? Identify the colleges and explain why you are attracted to each one. Even if college is not currently on your radar, you must still respond to the question and explain your thinking.

writing prompt: My top 3 colleges are; !. University of North Georgia (dolanoga) - They have a really great support system, the environment and structure is what got my attention. I was also very interested in their Corps of cadets program. They also have what I want to study.  2. Georgia State University - My sister had gone to GSU, she recommended that I go there too. They also have what I want to study and they seem like a very popular school. 3. Georgia College and State University - A little quiet however I heard many wonderful things about GCSU. They seem like a well structured school with a great support system.  Summary: Today in class, we worked on finding our quotes for our subtopics we choose for our literacy argument essay.  Today I learned, the importance in choosing colleges and things you really need to look into.

During brainstorming, one idea usually stands out. What is the most interesting or strongest idea you came up with for your essay, and what made you choose it over the others?

Writing prompt: One interesting idea I came up with, a topic to argue about was resilience. i choose this topic because throughout Cheryl's hike of the PCT, the most important piece was her resilience, being able to adapt in certain situations. In addition, it was an easy topic to argue and I can be able to explain the reasons why with my evidence. A few of my other topics are important and support my prompt, however our of all of them, I would definitely write about resilience first,  Summary: Today in class, we did our cluster for our literacy essay  reflection: Today I learned my prompt and found an easier way to write my subtopics.

Writing is a process, and the first draft is rarely perfect. Strong writers improve their work through revision. After reviewing and revising your literary argument paragraph, what changes did you make to strengthen your writing?

Writing prompt: Some revisions I made to make my writing strong are being able to find a quote that strongly supports my claim. In addition, I also went in further detail on why I chose the quote and referred it back to my claim. To be able to explain and convince the reader why this is as it is.  I think I had written a strong start to my body essay, there were just a few minor setbacks that I think I can be able to fix.  Summary: Today we revised our body paragraph.  Reflection: Today I learned the changes that needed to be made in order to make my body paragraph stronger.

Today we discussed why academic writing must reflect your own thinking and understanding rather than relying on artificial intelligence to generate your ideas. After learning about the expectations for authentic writing, reflect on why it is important for students to write essays in their own words.

Writing prompt: it is important for student to write essays in their own words because for a teachers perspective, they are able to see where the student lies in writing and get to know the students real writing. To be able to see progress is trying to fix things, to get to learn their skills, and their comprehension of it. Another reason is because it is okay to ask for help. We must understand that we struggle in things because we are afraid to ask for help, we'd rather use AI for help. AI is only telling you what we want to hear, not actual reasoning and solutions on the rel world how to help. So students writing in their own words would help them get out of their comfort zone and ask for help.  Summary: Today in class we watch a video about how AI is affecting school/universities and we answered questions about it.  Reflection: Today I learned how AI affects many aspects of a students and teachers lives.

Today we focused on constructing a strong literary argument paragraph about Wild and whether discomfort is necessary for meaningful personal growth. After working through the claim-evidence-analysis structure, explain which part of the paragraph was most challenging for you and why. Do you find it more difficult to create an arguable claim or to move beyond summary in your analysis?

Writing prompt: I think the most difficult part in the process of writing a strong literary argument paragraph is brainstorming and constructing our claims. I can write a claim, I think it is just if my claim connects back to the thesis and simply coming up with one. The graphic organizer that we filled out as a class is still something I struggle with. In come cases, I do think I overthink it. I think it is more difficult to move beyond summary in my analysis. I tend to summarize a lot to avoid quoting and it seems to make things easier however I know that can cause difficulty in an argumentative essay.  Summary: Today in class we talked about body paragraphs and we wrote our own.  Reflection: Today in class I learned how to properly write body paragraphs with steps.

Reflect on your experiences with essay writing. What aspects of writing essays do you find most engaging or challenging? Discuss your personal strengths as a writer as well as specific areas where you experience difficulty or would like to improve. Support your reflection with clear examples from your own writing experiences.

writing prompt: One aspect I find most engaging when writing an essay is really thinking about how I want the essay to be. Brainstorming how I want things to be and exactly what sentence has to be there. In addition, I really love to enjoy writing big words, it makes my writing sound mature and understandable.  Some people do underestimate me in the sense of them thinking I'm using AI or when I try to revise their work, they think I'm trying to hard to fix it. I always thought writing should be unique.  Example: Explain why apples are better than bananas. Apple are better than bananas because they contain fiber that is critical for your health. It is an important factor of our well-being and should be more consumed.  If I could, I would just say because their good. However, I just wrote that sentence like if it came from an ad. I make sure my writing and explanations show I care and I am really getting from point A to B in a way a reader can understand. One thing I ...

Reflect on the simile and metaphor worksheet. Which topic challenged you the most when creating your figurative language, and why? In your response, explain what made that topic difficult and how you worked through the challenge (or what you might do differently next time).

Writing prompt: The topic that was difficult for me to do was comparison to other. On the daily, I feel compared to other people. It is mostly done at home. I understand why, however, it is something I deeply dislike. Whenever I am being compared to someone (My sibling) I tend to zone out and try to push it down as much as possible. So, it was very difficult for me to write how I am always being compared to my sister. It makes me feel misunderstood, not heard, and overall unappreciated of me. However, writing about it helped me acknowledge it and having to think about, so what? So what I am bring compared to?  Summary: Today in class I was not present, I was on a field trip! Reflection: Today I learned what others have said about me, how they really have a huge impact towards my life.

After viewing your classmates’ digital posters and reading the feedback comments left on your work, what new ideas or perspectives did you gain about your poster? Reflect on how the feedback influenced the way you think about your creative choices and describe what you learned about the creative process while designing and presenting your poster.

Writing prompt: Today in class I was not present, I had gone on a college field trip with JROTC. However, I am still in the process of finishing my project!

Today you created similes and metaphors that reflect your struggles, growth, and resilience. In a well-developed paragraph, reflect on the process. What did you learn about yourself while writing your figurative language?

Writing prompt: Writing similes and metaphors that reflect my struggles, growth, and resilience was very hard for me. I really had to think back of a few things that I never thought I would have to think about again. It really did help me be able to make connections from my life, deep memories and turn it into figurative language. I find similes and metaphors fascinating because it helps you compare things in your life to almost anything. Things like sea, storms, flowers, and etc. No matter what the case is, negative experience or positive, it was very hard for me to write any. However, I don't see that as a bad thing, I see it as moving on from things and opening up.  Summary: Today in class we wrote our own similes and metaphors about ourselves.  Reflection: Today I learned how to be able to grow/overcome things through writing.

Describe how you spent your time, any activities, traditions, travel, hobbies, or moments that stood out to you. You may also discuss something new you tried, something you learned, or how the break helped you reset before returning to school. Keep your response appropriate for a school setting and focus on experiences you are comfortable sharing publicly

Writing Prompt: Normally whenever I am on break, I sincerely do not do anything. However, I do enjoy going on walks at least once a day. Being able to rest, taking time for myself really helps me reset my mentality before going back to school. I tend to reflect on things I did well and things that were challenging. I do this to be able to help me grow and fix things. Other things I do to reset my mind is paint. I am able to use colors, use imagine, and paint a series of random portraits to express how I feel.  Summary: Today in class we read a poem from Maya Angelou Reflection: Today I learned the meaning of "Still I rise" from similes and metaphors.
