Recall a specific incident when someone’s words offended you. Describe what was said, how it made you feel, and what actions you took in response. Reflect on whether your response helped resolve the situation or changed how you think about communication.

Writing Prompt: There was this one time when I was called the word "Women". Although the word seems harmless, and that is what I am, I highly dislike that word. Although it is what I am, it was always said in a demanding and disrespectful way. One day, my brother called me. There are times he means it jokingly, but because I've previously told him not to call me that, it has become a habit. He noticed, but he brushed it off. My mother had accompanied me with my friends, who also called me "woman" jokily. In that moment, my brother snapped and defended me. Although I was grateful, I was also upset. I wondered, why is he mad if he calls me that too? Later that day, I was having a conversation with my brother, and they said if he did not want people to call me it he shouldn't either. I told him how that word made me feel and that he should not continue it. After that day, till this day, he has not called me a woman again.

Summary: Today in class, we listed 3 words that offend us and read "Incident" by Countee Cullen.

Reflection: Today, I learned that words can be powerful.
