Celie tells Harpo to “beat” Sofia because she believes that’s how men control women, but this advice causes pain and conflict. Think about a time when someone gave you advice that sounded right at first but ended up being wrong. How did it affect your situation or relationships? What lesson did you learn about thinking for yourself?

 Reflection: I had a friend fallout recently. We were all a trio, and when one left, it was just me and my friend Paloma. The reason why we stopped being friends is that our friend Alondra posted something on social media that pushed one of my buttons. I was not going to stand on that, so Paloma and I backed away. Paloma found a TikTok that was similar to the situation we were going through with Alondra, and she told me Let's both repost it. And it sounded like a good idea in my head because the TikTok contained exactly how we feel in our situation. So I did it because it was relatable. until I did not realize Alondra could see that i reposted it, and she took it really bad. She started posting things hurtful towards us. I regret it, but at the same time, it is how I feel. I never like putting my problems on social media, so I ended up backing away from it. Till this day, our conflict is still going on. I just hope I don't do things like that again. 

Summary: Today, we continued reading the book The Color Purple, and we continued to work on our project. 

Reflection: Today, I learned that it is okay to stay quiet in situations where you would love to speak up. I feel like it depends on the situation, but for your safety, emotionally and mentally, stay quiet.

 Writing Prompt: one time I was judged unfairly was being left out from a group of white girl. I have nothing against them but based of their facial expressions and actions towards me was different. Writing prompt:  Dear God,  Suddenly, my heart broke into pieces. Mr_____has all of nettie's letter she has written to me. Potentially, I did feel sympathy for the man. He has broken my heart. All this time, all these years, I could have heard back from my sister. To not feel alone, to not feel outnumbered, to not feel pain, anger, and most of all, love. I could have been out of this place with Nettie's help. I could have fought Mr.____ a long time ago. However.....I would have never met Shug Avery. I don't know how to feel, God, excited or angry. Is this a sin? Summary: Today in class, we continued to read independently  Reflection: Today, I learned that it is okay to feel emotions. Even tho you may not know what to do, feeling is an action too.

After reading the first five letters of The Color Purple, reflect on your thoughts and emotions as you experienced Celie’s early voice and struggles

 Writing prompt: This book is definitely an interesting book I have ever read. I did not expect it to be such a strong and powerful message. I can feel Celie’s struggle in what to do in her situation. Experiencing rape at such a young age, she has a clear understand of what it is. Later her mother passes away, although she was not the best mother, she is left with her father that raped her and her sister. I honestly think this book already has me hooked and I can’t wait what happens next.  Summary today in class we took notes and began reading the story the color purple.  Reflection: I learned that letter tell a story too.
