In Letters 46–50, Celie begins to see Albert more clearly—his flaws, his regrets, and the ways he changes when he is no longer in complete control of her. Their relationship slowly shifts from fear and dominance to honesty and distance. Write about a relationship in your life that changed over time as you grew older or more aware. What made the dynamic shift, and how did your understanding of that person evolve?

There was a time I was friends with this girl. I had been friends with her for over 3 years. Until now, I was able to realize what kind of friend she really was. However, I knew deep down it was my fault; I was still friends with her for so long. I was afraid to let her go and be alone. I was mostly living in her shadow and revolving her around my world. Until I was able to build the confidence to tell her no. I was not going to be treated the way I was. It was a matter of my pouring into her cup and her not pouring back. Leaving her made a huge impact on my life because it was definitely 100% of me. Now, I am willing to get to know people and grow with others.

Summary: Today in class, we continued reading "The Color Purple" independently and took notes.

Reflection: Today, I learned that it is okay to put yourself first. Whenever there is a win, take the win and leave a problem for another day.
