Write about a moment when you had to step out of your comfort zone.

 Writing prompt: One moment when I had to step out of my comfort zone was sleeping with my niece. For the first time in my 17 years of life, I had to sleep with my niece. I've never once slept with a person next to me, and I really enjoy having my whole bed to myself. I felt trapped and limited, even though she's a small person. I could not sleep because I had so much anxiety, and I focused on another person breathing. At first, it felt awful, but then she put her arm around me, which made my heart melt. I was then able to fall asleep slowly. 


Summary: Today in class, we read the prologue of the book "Wild" and answered 3 questions. 


Reflection: Today, I learned about what the author felt and thought in the book "Wild" and a sneak peek at what I am going to read.

 Writing Prompt: one time I was judged unfairly was being left out from a group of white girl. I have nothing against them but based of their facial expressions and actions towards me was different. We had to get into groups at random and learn something from each and every one of them. I joined this one group and since a few of them already knew each other they were open to other but not me. They would skip my turn and just look at me like if I just landed on this planet. Once the timer went off I never spoke, I tried to because I wanted to make new friends, but I was silenced.  Summary: Today in class, we worked on a Common Lit Reflection: Today, I learned that being judge unfairly, especially if you don’t know the person, or in general, is cruel. No one likes to be judged because it just lowers our self esteem and our personality. It sometimes gives us a reason to change.

Writing prompt:  Dear God,  Suddenly, my heart broke into pieces. Mr_____has all of nettie's letter she has written to me. Potentially, I did feel sympathy for the man. He has broken my heart. All this time, all these years, I could have heard back from my sister. To not feel alone, to not feel outnumbered, to not feel pain, anger, and most of all, love. I could have been out of this place with Nettie's help. I could have fought Mr.____ a long time ago. However.....I would have never met Shug Avery. I don't know how to feel, God, excited or angry. Is this a sin? Summary: Today in class, we continued to read independently  Reflection: Today, I learned that it is okay to feel emotions. Even tho you may not know what to do, feeling is an action too.

After reading the first five letters of The Color Purple, reflect on your thoughts and emotions as you experienced Celie’s early voice and struggles

 Writing prompt: This book is definitely an interesting book I have ever read. I did not expect it to be such a strong and powerful message. I can feel Celie’s struggle in what to do in her situation. Experiencing rape at such a young age, she has a clear understand of what it is. Later her mother passes away, although she was not the best mother, she is left with her father that raped her and her sister. I honestly think this book already has me hooked and I can’t wait what happens next.  Summary today in class we took notes and began reading the story the color purple.  Reflection: I learned that letter tell a story too.
