Reflect on the simile and metaphor worksheet. Which topic challenged you the most when creating your figurative language, and why? In your response, explain what made that topic difficult and how you worked through the challenge (or what you might do differently next time).

Writing prompt: The topic that was difficult for me to do was comparison to other. On the daily, I feel compared to other people. It is mostly done at home. I understand why, however, it is something I deeply dislike. Whenever I am being compared to someone (My sibling) I tend to zone out and try to push it down as much as possible. So, it was very difficult for me to write how I am always being compared to my sister. It makes me feel misunderstood, not heard, and overall unappreciated of me. However, writing about it helped me acknowledge it and having to think about, so what? So what I am bring compared to?  Summary: Today in class I was not present, I was on a field trip! Reflection: Today I learned what others have said about me, how they really have a huge impact towards my life.

After viewing your classmates’ digital posters and reading the feedback comments left on your work, what new ideas or perspectives did you gain about your poster? Reflect on how the feedback influenced the way you think about your creative choices and describe what you learned about the creative process while designing and presenting your poster.

Writing prompt: Today in class I was not present, I had gone on a college field trip with JROTC. However, I am still in the process of finishing my project!

Today you created similes and metaphors that reflect your struggles, growth, and resilience. In a well-developed paragraph, reflect on the process. What did you learn about yourself while writing your figurative language?

Writing prompt: Writing similes and metaphors that reflect my struggles, growth, and resilience was very hard for me. I really had to think back of a few things that I never thought I would have to think about again. It really did help me be able to make connections from my life, deep memories and turn it into figurative language. I find similes and metaphors fascinating because it helps you compare things in your life to almost anything. Things like sea, storms, flowers, and etc. No matter what the case is, negative experience or positive, it was very hard for me to write any. However, I don't see that as a bad thing, I see it as moving on from things and opening up.  Summary: Today in class we wrote our own similes and metaphors about ourselves.  Reflection: Today I learned how to be able to grow/overcome things through writing.

Describe how you spent your time, any activities, traditions, travel, hobbies, or moments that stood out to you. You may also discuss something new you tried, something you learned, or how the break helped you reset before returning to school. Keep your response appropriate for a school setting and focus on experiences you are comfortable sharing publicly

Writing Prompt: Normally whenever I am on break, I sincerely do not do anything. However, I do enjoy going on walks at least once a day. Being able to rest, taking time for myself really helps me reset my mentality before going back to school. I tend to reflect on things I did well and things that were challenging. I do this to be able to help me grow and fix things. Other things I do to reset my mind is paint. I am able to use colors, use imagine, and paint a series of random portraits to express how I feel.  Summary: Today in class we read a poem from Maya Angelou Reflection: Today I learned the meaning of "Still I rise" from similes and metaphors.
