During brainstorming, one idea usually stands out. What is the most interesting or strongest idea you came up with for your essay, and what made you choose it over the others?

 Writing prompt: One interesting idea I came up with, a topic to argue about was resilience. i choose this topic because throughout Cheryl's hike of the PCT, the most important piece was her resilience, being able to adapt in certain situations. In addition, it was an easy topic to argue and I can be able to explain the reasons why with my evidence. A few of my other topics are important and support my prompt, however our of all of them, I would definitely write about resilience first, 


Summary: Today in class, we did our cluster for our literacy essay 


reflection: Today I learned my prompt and found an easier way to write my subtopics.

 Writing Prompt: one time I was judged unfairly was being left out from a group of white girl. I have nothing against them but based of their facial expressions and actions towards me was different. We had to get into groups at random and learn something from each and every one of them. I joined this one group and since a few of them already knew each other they were open to other but not me. They would skip my turn and just look at me like if I just landed on this planet. Writing prompt:  Dear God,  Suddenly, my heart broke into pieces. Mr_____has all of nettie's letter she has written to me. Potentially, I did feel sympathy for the man. He has broken my heart. All this time, all these years, I could have heard back from my sister. To not feel alone, to not feel outnumbered, to not feel pain, anger, and most of all, love. I could have been out of this place with Nettie's help. I could have fought Mr.____ a long time ago. However.....I would have never met Shug Avery. I don't know how to feel, God, excited or angry. Is this a sin? Summary: Today in class, we continued to read independently  Reflection: Today, I learned that it is okay to feel emotions. Even tho you may not know what to do, feeling is an action too.

After reading the first five letters of The Color Purple, reflect on your thoughts and emotions as you experienced Celie’s early voice and struggles

 Writing prompt: This book is definitely an interesting book I have ever read. I did not expect it to be such a strong and powerful message. I can feel Celie’s struggle in what to do in her situation. Experiencing rape at such a young age, she has a clear understand of what it is. Later her mother passes away, although she was not the best mother, she is left with her father that raped her and her sister. I honestly think this book already has me hooked and I can’t wait what happens next.  Summary today in class we took notes and began reading the story the color purple.  Reflection: I learned that letter tell a story too.
