Today we focused on constructing a strong literary argument paragraph about Wild and whether discomfort is necessary for meaningful personal growth. After working through the claim-evidence-analysis structure, explain which part of the paragraph was most challenging for you and why. Do you find it more difficult to create an arguable claim or to move beyond summary in your analysis?
Writing prompt: I think the most difficult part in the process of writing a strong literary argument paragraph is brainstorming and constructing our claims. I can write a claim, I think it is just if my claim connects back to the thesis and simply coming up with one. The graphic organizer that we filled out as a class is still something I struggle with. In come cases, I do think I overthink it. I think it is more difficult to move beyond summary in my analysis. I tend to summarize a lot to avoid quoting and it seems to make things easier however I know that can cause difficulty in an argumentative essay.
Summary: Today in class we talked about body paragraphs and we wrote our own.
Reflection: Today in class I learned how to properly write body paragraphs with steps.
