After viewing your classmates’ presentations, which cultural group did you find most interesting? Explain why. Then, reflect on how this presentation changed or deepened your understanding of that culture.

 Writing Prompt: After viewing my classmates presentations, I found Latino/Hispanic women the most interesting. I honestly, understand the reason why they are stereotypes mean, loud, or crazy. However, I found it interesting that I didn't know there were stereotypes in the shows the group presented. In Modern Family, Sofia Vergara one of the women who I didn't know showed signs of stereotyping. In a way, this TV show confirms and reinforces those stereotypes that people have, in reality, they are not true. It made me realize even with people that are in my race, ethnicity, and culture are being stereotyped. 

Summary: Today in class we presented our group projects. 

Reflection: Today in class I learned the dangers of a single story in various culture groups.

 Writing Prompt: one time I was judged unfairly was being left out from a group of white girl. I have nothing against them but based of their facial expressions and actions towards me was different. We had to get into groups at random and learn something from each and every one of them. I joined this one group and since a few of them already knew each other they were open to other but not me. They would skip my turn and just look at me like if I just landed on this planet. Writing prompt:  Dear God,  Suddenly, my heart broke into pieces. Mr_____has all of nettie's letter she has written to me. Potentially, I did feel sympathy for the man. He has broken my heart. All this time, all these years, I could have heard back from my sister. To not feel alone, to not feel outnumbered, to not feel pain, anger, and most of all, love. I could have been out of this place with Nettie's help. I could have fought Mr.____ a long time ago. However.....I would have never met Shug Avery. I don't know how to feel, God, excited or angry. Is this a sin? Summary: Today in class, we continued to read independently  Reflection: Today, I learned that it is okay to feel emotions. Even tho you may not know what to do, feeling is an action too.

After reading the first five letters of The Color Purple, reflect on your thoughts and emotions as you experienced Celie’s early voice and struggles

 Writing prompt: This book is definitely an interesting book I have ever read. I did not expect it to be such a strong and powerful message. I can feel Celie’s struggle in what to do in her situation. Experiencing rape at such a young age, she has a clear understand of what it is. Later her mother passes away, although she was not the best mother, she is left with her father that raped her and her sister. I honestly think this book already has me hooked and I can’t wait what happens next.  Summary today in class we took notes and began reading the story the color purple.  Reflection: I learned that letter tell a story too.
