 Writing prompt; I think this shows a disconnected from her culture. Her grandfather did pass away which I can infer, cause that link to disconnect. The story mentions how her grandmother never cooked in the same kitchen again. The author could have made culture meaningful choice for her grandmother by cooking foods her grandmother had made before. To be able to renew her culture senses . One thing I could have made more meaningful for someone is Mother’s Day. There was a time I was mad at my mother and I chose to do something simple. However that year was when her mother passed away, my grandmother. However I got to carried away with being angry. I wished I could have made that day more meaningful to her, a box of chocolate was not gonna cut it. 


Summary: Today in class, we read "Lunch" by Christina Henriquez

Reflection; today in class I learned our ancestors play a key role to our culture food.

 Writing Prompt: one time I was judged unfairly was being left out from a group of white girl. I have nothing against them but based of their facial expressions and actions towards me was different. After reading the first five letters of The Color Purple, reflect on your thoughts and emotions as you experienced Celie’s early voice and struggles

 Writing prompt: This book is definitely an interesting book I have ever read. I did not expect it to be such a strong and powerful message. I can feel Celie’s struggle in what to do in her situation. Experiencing rape at such a young age, she has a clear understand of what it is. Later her mother passes away, although she was not the best mother, she is left with her father that raped her and her sister. I honestly think this book already has me hooked and I can’t wait what happens next.  Summary today in class we took notes and began reading the story the color purple.  Reflection: I learned that letter tell a story too.
